How to Plan a 200-Piece Custom Apparel Order: Styles, Colors and Sizes

A buyer plans 200 garments: 100 black hoodies and 100 grey hoodies. Does that meet a 200-piece MOQ?

At KELLOGG, the recommended minimum order quantity is 200 pieces per style per color. In this example, black and grey are separate color lines. Planning the quantity this way prevents a common misunderstanding before sampling begins.

Plan each style and color separately

Start with one row for every style-and-color combination. You can then divide that row across the sizes your customers need.

The size quantities above are an example, not a recommended ratio. Use your sales data or customer requirements to decide the breakdown.

A grey version of the same hoodie needs its own row. A T-shirt also needs a separate row because it is a different style. If you want several options but are ready to produce only one, identify your lead style and color first.

Why can’t every garment be added together?

Different styles may need different patterns and samples. Different colors may require separate fabric, dyeing or wash approvals. Changes to printing, embroidery or trims can also affect production setup.

What should you send for a production review?

Send the following for each style and color:

• Planned quantity and size breakdown
• Tech pack or clear reference images
• Fabric composition, target GSM and color reference
• Measurements and intended fit
• Print or embroidery details
• Washing, labels, trims and packaging requirements
